ZoomInfo Alternatives for UK B2B Teams (2026)

Why UK B2B teams look for ZoomInfo alternatives and which options work best. Cognism, Apollo, Lusha, Kaspr and managed data services compared for UK coverage and GDPR.

Why UK Teams Look for ZoomInfo Alternatives

ZoomInfo is the dominant B2B data platform globally, with good reason. Its database is vast, its intent data is mature, and for US-focused enterprise sales teams, it remains the default choice. But UK B2B teams face specific challenges that make ZoomInfo less straightforward than the marketing suggests.

The three most common reasons UK teams explore alternatives: cost (contracts typically start at $15,000-$30,000/year), UK SME data coverage gaps, and GDPR concerns around the data collection model. This page evaluates the realistic alternatives, including where each one falls short.

Cognism

Cognism is the closest direct alternative to ZoomInfo for UK teams, and in many respects it is the better choice for UK-focused prospecting. The company is London-headquartered, which means UK data quality is a core priority rather than an afterthought.

The Diamond Verified mobile phone data is Cognism's strongest differentiator. Phone numbers are manually verified by a research team, which delivers materially higher connect rates than ZoomInfo's automated verification. For UK outbound calling campaigns, this matters significantly.

Cognism's GDPR approach is also more robust for UK use. They screen against TPS and CTPS lists, provide Do Not Call lists, and operate on a legitimate interest basis with clear opt-out mechanisms. The ICO has not raised concerns about Cognism's model, which provides some comfort for compliance-conscious UK buyers.

The limitations: Cognism's pricing is not dramatically cheaper than ZoomInfo - expect £15,000-£25,000+ per year depending on seats and credits. Coverage outside the UK and Western Europe is thinner than ZoomInfo's global database. And like all data platforms, the data is only as good as the day it was verified - job changes and company moves still cause decay.

Apollo.io

Apollo is the budget alternative. The free tier gives small teams a starting point, and paid plans offer significantly more data per pound than ZoomInfo or Cognism. For UK startups and early-stage companies running their first outbound campaigns, Apollo is a pragmatic entry point.

The trade-off is UK data quality. Apollo's database skews US, and UK mobile phone coverage is inconsistent - particularly for contacts outside London and outside technology companies. Leeds and Sheffield, for example, have significant B2B density in financial services and manufacturing respectively, but mobile data coverage for these cities lags well behind London. Email addresses are often pattern-matched rather than individually verified, resulting in higher bounce rates. TPS screening is not built in.

Apollo's sequencing tool is bundled in, which reduces total tool cost for teams that would otherwise need a separate outreach platform. For a detailed head-to-head, see our Apollo vs ZoomInfo comparison.

Lusha

Lusha is a lighter-weight prospecting tool focused on contact enrichment via a browser extension. For SDRs who spend time on LinkedIn identifying prospects, Lusha provides quick access to email addresses and phone numbers without leaving the browser.

UK coverage is moderate. Lusha works well for larger UK companies where data availability is higher, but struggles with SMEs and niche industries. The free tier is limited but useful for testing. Paid plans are accessible for small teams.

Lusha has invested in GDPR compliance features, including an opt-out mechanism and data processing documentation. However, as with all enrichment tools, the underlying data collection model means you should verify compliance with your own legal team before deploying at scale in the UK.

Kaspr

Kaspr is a European-founded tool focused on LinkedIn prospecting, and its EU/UK data coverage reflects that origin. For SDRs who work primarily from LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Kaspr extracts contact details directly from profiles and enriches them with phone numbers and email addresses.

UK mobile coverage is good - better than Apollo and comparable to Lusha for the segments it covers. The pricing is competitive, with a free tier and affordable paid plans. Kaspr's GDPR approach is strong, given its European roots.

The limitation is breadth. Kaspr is a prospecting tool, not a data platform. It does not offer intent data, technographic enrichment, or company-level intelligence at the depth of ZoomInfo or Cognism. For teams that need contact details and nothing more, that simplicity is a feature.

Where ZoomInfo Still Wins

It is worth being honest: ZoomInfo remains the strongest option for specific use cases. If your target market is global enterprise - FTSE 100, Fortune 500, large multinationals with UK offices - ZoomInfo's database depth is unmatched. The intent data, org charts, technographic overlays, and account-level intelligence provide context that none of the alternatives fully replicate.

For UK enterprise sales teams with budgets above £20,000/year for data tooling and average deal sizes above £50,000, ZoomInfo often delivers positive ROI despite the higher cost. The question is whether that describes your situation.

The Managed Service Alternative

Every tool on this list shares the same fundamental limitation: they sell you data, but they do not manage it.

You still need someone to deduplicate the records against your existing CRM, verify the data against UK sources like Companies House, screen phone numbers against TPS/CTPS, maintain enrichment over time as contacts change roles, and handle the ongoing hygiene that prevents data decay.

ClientWise provides this as a managed data operations service. We pull from multiple data sources - often including the tools listed above - and deliver clean, verified, CRM-ready data. The difference is that you get an operations team, not another login.

For teams that want to build targeted prospect lists without managing the data pipeline themselves, our pipeline build service delivers ready-to-work lists built to your ICP, enriched from 16+ sources, and screened for UK compliance.

Some clients use us alongside Cognism or Apollo. Others use us instead of a data platform entirely. The right model depends on your team's capacity and the volume of prospecting data you need. See our comparison of UK vs US data providers and GDPR-compliant data providers for broader context.

Decision Framework

  1. What is your primary market? UK-only: Cognism or a managed service. UK + US: ZoomInfo or Apollo. EU + UK: Kaspr or Cognism.
  2. What is your budget? Under £5,000/year: Apollo or Kaspr. £5,000-£20,000: Cognism or Lusha. Over £20,000: ZoomInfo or a managed service with premium sources.
  3. Do you have someone to manage the data? If yes: pick a tool. If no: consider a managed service that handles the operations.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Cognism better than ZoomInfo for UK data?

For UK-specific prospecting, generally yes. Cognism's Diamond Verified mobiles, TPS screening, and UK-native approach deliver better results for UK outbound. ZoomInfo remains stronger for global and US data.

Can I get UK mobile numbers from Apollo?

Apollo has UK mobile numbers in its database, but coverage is inconsistent and they are not TPS-screened. Expect lower connect rates compared to Cognism or manually verified sources.

What is the cheapest ZoomInfo alternative that works in the UK?

Apollo's free tier or Kaspr's free tier provide a starting point at zero cost. For paid plans, both are under £100/month. Quality will be lower than ZoomInfo or Cognism, particularly for UK mobile numbers.

Do I need a data platform at all?

Not necessarily. If your CRM already contains thousands of records that have not been cleaned or enriched, the highest-ROI action is to fix what you have before buying new data. A CRM health check often reveals enough actionable contacts to fill the pipeline for a quarter.

How does a managed data service differ from a data platform?

A data platform gives you access to a database and tools. A managed service does the work: cleaning, enriching, deduplicating, screening for compliance, and delivering CRM-ready records. One is a tool; the other is an outcome.
